Critical Care
Our board-certified Critical Care Specialist and critical care service is dedicated to providing intensive care and monitoring for pets in critical conditions. We provide rapid diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of clinical problems representing the most extreme and life-threatening conditions seen in veterinary medicine.
We provide critically ill patients intensive care by a coordinated team and a broad range of technological procedures and devices used in intensive care settings to monitor and provide life-support (i.e., oxygen supplementation, mechanical ventilation, hemodialysis, vasopressor support).
Veterinary ICU
ECoVets Veterinary Specialists and Emergency is the only veterinary ICU that can provide mechanical ventilation and renal replacement support (hemodialysis) in Northeast Florida.
The care of critically ill patient also raises many complicated ethical and social issues, and encompass end-of-life decisions, advance directives, estimating prognosis, and counseling of patients and their families.
We provide critical care in our intensive care unit to patients presented to the emergency service allowing continuity of care in the same hospital, as well as patients requiring post-operative care, and overnight care from other referring veterinary clinics and hospitals.
CPR
Cardiopulmonary arrest can also happen in veterinary patients and our team of emergency and critical care clinicians and nurses are ready to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) based on the latest RECOVER guidelines for CPR in small animals, as well as to provide the intensive care and monitor for patients that are resuscitated successfully.
